It’s a tight-budget year, and the Town must allocate funds for garbage trucks, police cars, and sidewalks lost in the hurricane. A budget shortfall may mean cuts to social services, but the Board is reluctant to raise the revenue needed after last year’s steep hike. Yet the proposed 2026-27 budget includes $500,000 for design work to pave a 2-mile stretch of Bolin Creek, a completely unnecessary expense, and the Town intends to take out a bank loan to cover the shortfall! As a result of OWASA’s repair work, this stretch of Bolin Creek has a perfectly acceptable surface that is loved by both hikers and bikers. Kudos to OWASA for making repairs that created a beautiful path for all to use.
