On Saturday, February 1, 2025, a group of over 35 volunteers turned out for the “Live Stake Workshop.” Some wore waiders to stand in the creek while installing live stakes into the creek bank. If the planting is successful, each stake grows into a small tree with a root ball that holds the bank together to prevent erosion.
Mitch Woodard from the North Carolina Extension Service provided instruction, and Michael Dupree from Urban Sustainable Solutions assisted in the event. All the planting materials were purchased with the help of a grant from the Town of Carrboro.
