Muddy orange water was observed in Bolin Creek downstream from this site, while upstream waters appeared in good shape. At the construction site, there were several indicators that clay was entering waterways.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-856\" title=\"Silt fence breached\" src=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine3-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine3-180x300.jpg 180w, https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine3.jpg 384w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a>Some silt fences were breached as seen in the picture at the left.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-862\" title=\"balentine2\" src=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine21-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine21-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bolincreek.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/balentine21.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Clay lay in the roadways and evidence of red clay washing into the storm drains. No straw bales, silt fences or other devices were in place on the roadway portion of this site to prevent this from occurring.<\/p>\n<p>Within the last two weeks we have seen Bolin Creek and some tributaries run muddy red\/orange.\u00a0 Large concentrations of clay particles don\u2019t get into the creek unless subsoils from earth-moving activities are left exposed to the weather.
