The Bolin Creek Festival

Images of Bolin Creek by Dave Otto It’s time to Celebrate the Creek at the 4th Annual Bolin Creek Festival, 1-5pm, October 20th at Umstead Park in Chapel Hill. (Rain date: Sunday, October 21). This family-oriented festival is sponsored by the Friends of Bolin Creek and admission is free.

To help us appreciate and preserve the beauty of Bolin Creek, Emily Eve Weinstein, artist/author from Durham, will paint a picture of the creek for the festival. Raffle tickets for the picture will be sold to raise money for the preservation of the stream corridor.

The festival will include music by local groups including Amber Dutton - a talented folksinger who teaches at Smith Middle School; the Wes Lambe Jazz Trio, folk music by Bonny Moellenbrock and Michael Lowry, rhythm circles by the Music Explorium and more!

Cynthia Crossen kept the children of all ages spellbound searching for tiny critters in the creek

Other special activities for children include a fascinating introduction to stream critters and live animal displays by the Haw River Assembly and Chapel Hill Stormwater Office. Learn about conservation activities of local groups including OWASA, New Hope Audubon Society, Eno River Association and Friends of Bolin Creek.

Folks learn about Bolin Creek
